Italian Folklore-Inspired Soulslike Delays Release To Avoid Elden Ring’s Expansion

It’s no argument that the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the more significant releases this year. It will be tough for any game, let alone one of a similar style, to be able to compete with it. What would be even tougher is sharing the release date (poor Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance). One such game that came under that umbrella is Enotria: The Last Song, an Italian indie Soulslike set in an Italian Folklore-inspired world.

Developer Jyamma Games announced on February 19, 2024, that their project would release on June 21, 2024. This announcement preceded the reveal of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree‘s which came three days later. It was pretty clear that going ahead with the previously announced release date would be a death sentence for the indie Soulslike, so the studio made the decision to delay the game. This news was broken on the game’s Discord server.

“We are perfectly aware that release on the same day as Elden Ring for us, as for any other game, would be suicidal.” – Giacomo Greco CEO of Jyamma Games

There is currently no new release date announced, with the CEO stating that this new date would be revealed during the Future Game Show on March 21, 2024, along with some other news regarding the game.

Enotria: The Last Song is being developed independently by Jyamma Games for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic.
