Destiny 2’s yearly event, Guardian Games, will return next week upon the weekly reset. Renamed ‘Guardian Games All-Stars’, this event will pit each class against one another for three weeks. What are they competing for? None other than…a statue in The Tower that no one pays attention to. But I digress.
Guardian Games is typically criticised for not being very good and just forcing bursts of monotonous grinding for your preferred class. However, it seems this year that someone at Bungie had been playing Warframe and was inspired by the game’s K-Drives and decided they wanted those in Destiny 2.
Introducing the Skimmer, a new mode of transport in Destiny 2. Arguably more stylish than the game’s various sparrows, which recently received a rework so that the infamous Always On-Time sparrow would no longer be the fastest sparrow in the game, Skimmers will allow the Guardians to tear through all of Destiny 2‘s locales, grinding rails and performing trick in the process. The Allstar Vector Skimmer will be free to earn during Guardian Games All-Stars, with it being permanently unlocked.
Destiny 2 is currently in its 23rd season, Season of the Wish, and will also release some interim content to tide players over until the delayed release of its arc-ending expansion, The Final Shape. This expansion itself appears to have received a quarter of the pre-orders to its predecessor, Lightfall.
Destiny 2 is available to play for free on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It must be noted, however, that a lot of the game’s content is not available for free and is instead locked behind expensive expansions.
