It was revealed this morning that Embracer Group, a company that is currently best known for buying studios and closing them (taking that title away from EA), would be selling one of its larger subsidiaries in the form of Saber Interactive. Saber Interactive is just one arm of Embracer’s body, with several subsidiaries under the company like 4A Games, Mad Head Games, Aspyr Media, and Demiurge Studios.
As reported by Jason Schreier, the deal to allow Saber to split off from Embracer’s corporate body was worth up to around US$500 million.
It was also reported by Schreier that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic would be handled by one of Saber’s Eastern European studios. This news comes after the news last year that this project was delayed indefinitely and taken away from Aspyr Media, a studio whose previous works mostly consist of ports.
What I can reveal, thanks to some additional insider information, is that the studio that has been given the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake appears to be none other than Mad Head Games, the team behind Scars Above. The studio’s previous work managed to receive a Metacritic score of 64, with only a handful of critics favouring it.
There is still no more information regarding the infamous remake project.
