Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Patch #17 Has Various Additions, Changes, and Bug Fixes

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has seen continuous improvement since its release back in 2022. The game was criticised for being unpolished, lacking in features, and poorly optimised, and developer Fatshark has truly put in the work to fix up the game into what they originally intended it to be and then some.

Patch #17 has just been released and, despite Fatshark labelling it as a “Small Update” on Steam, the update is huge. Clocking in at a 9.65GB download on Steam which then expands into 11.7GB, Patch #17 brings a host of features. The new features a part of this update are as follows:

New Additions

Power Sword Special Activation

A second special action has been added to the attack chain of the power swords, allowing players to continue an attack chain if they are using the weapon special in the middle of an attack chain.

  • Munitorum Mk II Power Swords
    • The new activation will chain into the second light or heavy attacks, behaving similarly to the first attacks of the associated chains
  • Munitorum MK VI Power Sword
    • The new activation will chain into the second light attack or a new heavy that mirrors the first heavy diagonally down attack.

Spectating HUD

  • More HUD elements are enabled when spectating another player

Auspex Scanner HUD

  • Added an icon for the Auspex scanner to the HUD on the bottom right of the screen which only is active during scanning events.

Subtitles

  • Subtitles will now be prioritised by importance
  • Two subtitles will now be displayed simultaneously – this can be turned off in the interface settings
  • Player speaker indicators are now colour-coded by their assigned Strike Team colour
  • Speaker Indicator settings now function as intended

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is out on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
