The battle between Epic Games and Apple (as well as Google) is a long one that has been documented pretty well. The Fortnite developer didn’t like how Apple held a monopoly on iOS with the App Store and how the company also takes a 30% cut of all sales on the aforementioned App Store. As a result, Fortnite was removed from the App Store by Apple (and the Google Play Store by Google).
One game created by Chair Studios, a subsidiary of Epic Games, was Infinity Blade. Infinity Blade was one of the bigger 3D games in the early days of mobile gaming, being successful enough to earn two sequels and an arcade spinoff.
Epic had removed the trilogy from the App Store citing concerns about supporting it for future hardware updates as Chair Studios was moving to its new project. The only remnants of the game existing in Fortnite which was added on the day of the trilogy’s removal from the App Store. Fear not, however, as a team of dedicated fans/developers has ported the original game to PC.
Built using the game’s source code, which has been available since 2014, Infinity Blade PC is more of a passion project focused on the preservation of the game rather than reworking it in a way that better befits a PC port. The port was only aimed for x64 Windows but according to other members in the community it works on the following configurations on Linux (via Wine, Lutris, or Proton), macOS (via Crossover or Parallels), and Steam Deck (via Proton).
