Destiny 2‘s next major expansion, The Final Shape, is due to release next week, so Bungie has released a launch trailer to keep the hype train going ahead of its release. The trailer features a number of familiar faces, including the once-deceased character Cayde-6, the sharp-tongued and quick-witted Exo Hunter who used to be the Vanguard representative of the Hunters.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape will be the closing chapter of the Light vs Dark saga which began back in 2014 with the release of the first Destiny. The story has come a long way, with the original story being quite nonsensicle and borderline incomprehensible, but with expansions like The Taken King, Rise of Iron, Forsaken, and Witch Queen, the narrative cogs have managed to keep spinning enough to build a climax.
Currently, Destiny 2 is in its intermission season titled “Into The Light”, which features a number of meta-defining weapons returning under the banner of the BRAVE Arsenal. Names like Luna’s Howl, The Mountaintop, and The Recluse are among many who have seen a return or rebrand thanks to Into The Light.
Additionally, all of Destiny 2‘s older expansions (Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and Witch Queen) are available for free until June 4 AEST/NZST. PlayStation Plus subscribers are also granted access to the most recent Lightfall expansion.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape will launch on June 5, 2024 (AEST/NZST) for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
