It was announced today that Akira Toriyama, the creator and driving force behind the incredibly popular and influential manga and animated series, Dragon Ball, passed away last week at the age of 68. This announcement was made via the Official Dragon Ball website.

We are deeply saddened to inform you that Mange creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma. He was in age of 68.”

Toriyama was an incredibly passionate Manga creator whose work extended well beyond just that of the Dragon Ball universe and into other mediums like video games. His other works include but are not limited to:
- Dr. Slump
- Pola & Roid
- Dragon Ball
- Neko Majin
- Sand Land
- Dragon Quest
- Chrono Trigger
- Blue Dragon
Currently, there are no plans for a public commemoration of Akira Toriyama. However, it has been stated that should such plans be made, there would be updates to inform the public.
